This policy explains how StairCalculators.net handles data. The calculators themselves run entirely in your browser — the dimensions you enter are processed on your device and are not sent to or stored on our servers. The data described below is collected by the third-party analytics and advertising services we use, not by us directly.

We use Google Analytics (GA4) to understand how visitors use the site — which pages and calculators are popular, roughly where traffic comes from, and how people navigate. Google Analytics sets cookies and collects usage data such as your approximate location (derived from IP, which Google truncates), device and browser type, pages visited, and time on site. We use this only in aggregate to improve the site; we do not use it to identify individuals. Google's handling of this data is governed by the Google Privacy Policy. You can opt out of Google Analytics across all sites with the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
This site is supported by advertising. We display ads through Google AdSense and Adsterra. These networks and their partners may set cookies and use device identifiers to show ads and, in some cases, to personalize them based on your browsing across other sites.

The analytics and advertising services above set cookies in your browser. We do not set our own tracking cookies. You can block or delete cookies at any time through your browser settings; doing so will not affect the calculators, which work without cookies.
To preselect the most relevant building code, the calculator may look up your country — country only, not your precise location — via a third-party service (ipapi.co). Your IP address is not stored by us. If the lookup fails, the calculator defaults to the US IRC code. You can change the code at any time using the dropdown.
This site is a professional and DIY construction tool and is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
Depending on your region, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete data held about you, or to object to certain processing.
